1. He's the founder of the movement 'plant some shit' in south los angeles, and the one had the idea of planting food in the street and on vacants lots.
ReplyDelete2. Obesity, malnutrition, discrimination in a way because he says that rich people in beverly hills can afford healthy food and not those in the southern neighborhood.
3. This is about planting healthy food on places unused in South L.A and more generally L.A, and it makes people wanting to eat better and work to help this project and take them out of the streets and from violence.
4. Because you're involved in it you do it with pleasure and then you're happy because you helped doing it and growing it.
5. By helping growing those fruits and vegetables or doing it in a vacant and unused place in L.A
6. He will leave this ambitious and bold project behind with two sons who may follow it too.
7. He made it looking fun and used the usual gangsta sentences and the term 'gangsta gardener (which are present in south los angeles with the gangs) to make it sound attractive and better than go into the street violence. He also was joking and making the audience laugh during his presentation.

1) Ron Finley is an artist, designer, gardener from LA. Ron Finley is taking his art to the streets to inspire people around the world to reconnect with their food and each other. He is famous for creating a garden in front of his house with fresh vegetables, fruit.

3) Finley Project is a project that is inspiring people to change their lives with food. But it’s not just about food. It’s about changing culture.

1 Ron Finley is a man from California fighting against the food desert in south Los Angeles.

3 His project at the beginning was only to create a “food forest” in front of his house and now he is working to create as much gardens as he can in South Los Angeles.
4 He said that when you grow your own food, you know what you’re eating so you feel more careful with the food you’re going to eat in the future and therefore change the way of life and the way we consume.
5 Now the people who want to join Ron in this cause can just meet him in the gardens that he owes to help him or just discuss with him.
6 He wants to leave the legacy which said you have to consume what the other product and he wants as he said to create his own reality and thus create his own food.
7 He puts the gardening on a pedestal; bring it back to the “Trend” of a sustainable life and develop a new conscience about healthy food

He is “a man who will not sit still and watch a problem take root.” “Ron is familiar with the area’s lack of fresh produce. He knew what it’s like to drive 45 minutes just to get a fresh tomato.” He is well-known for The Ron Finley Project.

3. The Ron Finley Project is about inspiring people to change their lives with food. He thinks that we need to know what’s in our food. But it’s not only about food. It’s also about changing culture. How can people say there is no money when there are fast food restaurants and liquor stores in the areas. Finally, he also wants to change the African American Culture, to think that touch the soil does not mean that you are a slave.
4. Growing our own food change us and our relationship to food because it helps you to understand the alchemy of the planet. You understand more how the planet works, that a leaf does not fall randomly, at any season and is not a simple trash. By growing your own food you understand all of this.
5. To help contribute or get involved in his cause you can begin to garden yourself, if you have children you can do it with them… You can begin to make grown vegetables or fruits in your garden. You can also go to his garden and garden with him and other people that also participate.
6. The legacy Ron Finley will leave behind, if any, is “Beauty doesn’t cost money”.
7. Ron Finley's rhetoric changed people's perception of gardening by showing them that it’s not only about gardening but also understanding nature, bringing community and culture together.
8. I think food belongs to our discussion of race but in every country or culture you have different kind of food, depending of the history of the country, the climate. And share our food help the different communities to share things together.

3. His project was to inspire people to gardening and reconnect with their food and each other. It changed some people’s food and their hobby’s it also reconnects with their own family.
4. You understand that a plant falls/grows in a particular season for a reason. And it change people to be proud of their own gardening.
5. They can just come and meet him in his garden with a shovel.

3. It is about planting healthy food and to give an opportunity to the children, so they learn what it means to work and they get to know healthy food.
4. We appreciate it more, because we know what it means to take care and see it grow. It changes the way wee think of food.

Bringing culture and community together, he envisions a world where gardening is gangsta, where cool kids know their nutrition and where communities embrace the act of growing, knowing and sharing the best of the earth’s fresh-grown food. It’s time for Americans to learn to transform food deserts to food forests.
