1. The environmental issue that the article is discussing is about coral reefs.
ReplyDelete2. In this article we can learn that coral are a complex mix of plant and animal life. Even though coral reefs cover less than 0.2% of the ocean, they contain more than 25% of the entire marine life. They are ecologically really important because they are a source of food and medicine and reefs protect the coast from wave erosion. Coral reefs need clean, clear and tropical water (61° to 86° Fahrenheit). The pollution affect the coral a lot and affect its abilities to supply the zooxanthellae with nutrients for photosynthesis. Coral are in danger, scientists say that 10% of the world’s reefs have already been destroyed, and 60% are in danger. They predicted that Great Barrier Reef could be gone within 40 years if the actual level of CO2 emission on the Earth's atmosphere continue. Coral reefs are important, especially in the developping countries because anti-cancer drugs have been developed by from coral reefs.
3. We don’t have or learn any possible solutions in this article.
4. In this article, the author take a against stance on this environmental issue because he really points out the fact that coral reefs are useful and it would be dramatic if we don’t have it anymore and he also uses a lot of statistics to show to the reader that it’s real.
5. I feel really concerned about this issue because since a long time ago I always loved sea life, the ocean… It’s something that really fascinates me. I always said that one of my dream would be to see the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. When I heard once in a documentary that the coral reefs were really in danger and they explained everything that was happening and the consequences I really realized the impact of pollution and also realized that if we don’t do something, I would maybe never be able to see the Great Barrier Reef or maybe I would but my children wouldn’t. That’s not normal that something so huge and so important for the nature can disappear so easily in such a short time.
that was strong
ReplyDelete1) the article that I choose talked about POLLUTION.
ReplyDelete2) the article shows different types of pollution and it goes deep and tell that is not just because human fault but also because of natural disaster. It is reported that in China alone around 650,000 people die each year as a result of air pollution and the number who die in India is well over half a million. It is thought that even in the US the figure could top 50,000. It says also that Global warming has a major influence on world pollution and has been described as a ticking active bomb.
3) the article says that it might seem that there is no stopping and that this might be partly true, but it is certainly possible to slow the process down. Time is fairly short, but if the nations of the world took a united stand to cut greenhouse emissions this would certainly be a major step in the right direction.
4)Neutral, he/she just explained the situation with a lot of details.
5) I feel that this environmental issue belong to me a lot because in my own country we suffered because that and we are trying to find ways to solve the problem. In my opinion there are little things that we can do for make it better maybe we will not solve the problem but at least we should try because I think right now we are not doing enough.
1) the article that I choose talked about "Increase in Extreme Sea Levels Could Endanger European Coastal Communities"
ReplyDelete2) Northern Europe will see the strongest increase in extreme sea levels. Areas along the Mediterranean and the Black Sea could see these 100-year extreme sea level events several times a year. In the North Sea region, extreme sea levels could increase by nearly 1 meter (3 feet) under the worst-case scenario.
3)No information is given for this question
4) Neutral
5) I am sad and disappointed. I have read that we globally start the turnaround in carbon dioxide emissions as soon as possible, and by 2050 the output must go back by at least 60 percent to avoid catastrophic consequences of climate change.
1. The environmental issue the article I chose is disgusting about is the continue increase of CO2 level so
ReplyDelete2. According to my article: CO2 concentrations rose 3.03 ppm in 2015, making the last two years the first time that the greenhouse gas has risen more than 3 ppm in NOAA’s 59 years of monitoring. Moreover, Global CO2 concentrations currently stand at 406.42 ppm, and could reach 410 ppm.
3. The article is not referring to any possible solution.
4. The author of the article is clearly against the pollution and greenhouse gas and he was very critical. In fact, he used a lot of tragedy expressions like "a level never before seen in human history."
5. As an activist of Greenpeace and an environmental lover I am obviously against CO2 gas and greenhouse gas that more than sometimes think just about money, but, when the last tree Is cut down, the last fish eaten, and the last stream poisoned, they will realize that they can not eat money. And I am really afraid for the future generations because we will leave them the trash not a the world.

1. The article that i choose is about the natural disasters
ReplyDeletehttp://www.earthtimes.org/encyclopaedia/environmental-issues/natural-disasters/
They talk about 3 groups and what are the reactions or better wath's happen.
2. They show 3 groups of natural disasters and what happen. The first one is movement of the earth. This occur without a big warning and includes earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.
The second one is that the weather make disasters. This includes hurricanes, tornadoes and extrem heat and cold weather.
And the third one are the floods. This includes landslides, mudslides and famine. This are consequence of extrem weather events.
3. All these are difficult to predict and impossible to stop! You never know what and when it happens like the Hurricane Katrina in August 2008 in Louisiana and Mississippi that killed 1836 people. But the deadliest disaster in US history was the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 that killed between 6'000 and 12'000 people.
4. Like my understanding the autor was explaning everything neutral with a lot of explanations and what are the "symptoms" of this natural destasters.
5. At the beginning I didn't know what article i will choose and i was searching until I found this because it let you think about how "dangerous" the place is where we live. This kind of topics or also movies like 2012 are very fascinating to see what can happen or maybe will happen in a few years.
For me personaly it's dangerous to think about how much the earth will change with all this desasters which are produced by humans.
1. This article is discussing about the extreme weather.
ReplyDelete2. There are a lot of statics and facts especially in this article because it gives us around 10 examples of some extreme weather events occurring in the past ten years, one of these could be the Hurricane Katrina, ’’Hurricane Katrina hit South East Louisiana in late August 2005. It was the costliest natural disaster in US history. At least 1,836 people died in the actual hurricane and in the flood that followed after the levees failed. 80% of New Orleans was under water. Total property damage was estimated at $81 billion.’’
3.- The most important solution that the author mentions is that we need to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas sent into the atmosphere, as soon as possible, this will reduce the pace of warming and slow down the number of extreme climatic events.
4.- Neutral, he was totally objective just because its a scientific article, concrete and informative. The only part that he came out of this ‘’line’’ was when we talked about the solution that he considers as the best one.
5.- You dont need to be an expert to realize that we are not doing the things ‘’ok’’, I mean the most part of the humanity has a ‘’non-ecological’’ daily that we all conform in some way, but anyway I think what really matters now is to become aware and generate solutions as son as possible.

The article is about the fact that China and India may be responsible for runaway climate change. Rich countries cannot do anything without these two giants being involved. 3. Are there possible solutions stated in your article?
There are nog possible solutions in this article.
4. What stance does the author take on this environmental issue? Neutral, for, against?
